The National Stroke Audit was based at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) from 1997 to 2018 in various forms:

• National Sentinel Stroke Audit (NSSA) 1998-2010
• Sentinel Improvement National Audit Programme (SINAP) 2010-2012
• Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) 2012-2018

From 1 April 2018, the stroke audit has been run from King’s College London.

NSSA

The National Sentinel Stroke Audit (NSSA) monitored the rate of progress in stroke care and services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland on a two year cycle from 1998 until 2010, measuring the quality of stroke care and the organisation of stroke services.

SINAP

The Stroke Improvement National Audit Programme (SINAP) collected information from hospitals about the care provided to stroke patients in their first 3 days in hospital between May 2010 and December 2012.
