Professor Martin James
 
Martin James is Consultant Stroke Physician at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Exeter, and Honorary Clinical Professor at the University of Exeter Medical School.  He trained in Southampton, and he completed his research in hypertension in the elderly in Leicester.  His ongoing research interests include improving methods for the prevention of first and recurrent stroke, and operational research in hyperacute stroke care, particularly around the delivery of stroke reperfusion treatments.  He is Clinical Director of the Stroke Programme and a Visiting Professor at King’s College London, which runs the national stroke audit ‘SSNAP’, a joint editor of the National Clinical Guideline for Stroke, and he chairs the Intercollegiate Stroke Working Party.  He has served terms as both President and Honorary Secretary of the British Association of Stroke Physicians.
 
Dr Ajay Bhalla
 
Ajay qualified at St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1992. He completed his MSc Gerontology in 2000 at King’s College and his MD thesis in 2001 entitled ‘Physiological Homeostasis Management after Stroke.’ He has been Chair of the Clinical Standards Committee of the British Association of Stroke Physicians (BASP) and currently leads on the Stroke Peer Review Scheme administered by the Royal College of Physicians. He is currently a Consultant Stroke Physician at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and an Hononary Senior Lecturer at King's College, London. His academic interests include health service stroke research with the South London Stroke Register. He is the Associate Director of Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme, South East London Operational Stroke Lead and South London Stroke Research Lead for the Clinical Research Network.

Dr Rebecca Fisher

Dr Rebecca Fisher is Associate Director with the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) leading on the development and delivery of the post-acute elements of SSNAP. Rebecca is a Clinical Policy Programme manager with the National Stroke Programme team at NHS England and Visiting Senior Lecturer at Kings Collge London.
